Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline Company will sign a document for speeding up the process of laying of the pipeline. Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Atadjan Movlamov on Wednesday called on Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan here at Petroleum Division. Matters pertaining to mutual interest between both the countries came up for discussion. The Turkmen ambassador appreciated the progress being made in Pakistan on the TAPI gas pipeline.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan assured the ambassador that Pakistan remains fully committed to the successful implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project. He termed the project vital to Pakistan's energy portfolio and a catalyst for closer regional integration, peace and harmony. In the near future Petroleum Division and TAPI Pipeline Corporation will sign an essential document.

The ambassador said that economy of Turkmenistan depends upon oil and gas. Pakistan will receive 1,300 million cubic feet gas through TAPI project. Through this pipeline Turkmenistan will provide gas to Pakistan and India via Afghanistan.

The ambassador emphasised that his country is cognisant of the close mutual bonds of friendship, brotherhood and mutual cooperation that exists between both the countries. Khan reciprocated these sentiments. MD ISGS Mubeen Saulat was also present in the meeting.
